Description
It's been snowing all day ... the wind whipping around the corners of the house. They say it might be a record breaking storm. You've put a fire in the fireplace and fixed hot cups of cocoa for yourself and your true love. Just waiting out Mother Nature, quietly, when the electricity flickers and goes out.
Time to light the candles ...
A perfect image for your Valentine!
Original photo taken June 29, 2012 after what we in the area called the Derecho storm. Power stayed out for several days. Thank heavens for candles!! Image treated to much fun in Photoshop, then in Corel Painter 2015. My thanks to demibrooke at Flicker for the hint of texture.

My favourite of your work! I really enjoy how all the textures blend so well with each other making the focus on the candle light the feature. Wow! Just right. Ever tried looking directly into candle light? The flame is dominant and moving and the features in the background are soft and warm....
Lois Bryan replied:
Jonathan, thank you for your beautiful comment ... so it reached out to you. That's the best compliment ... because that's really what a lot of us do this for. Thank you again!!!!

Love your processing, and especially your work with the candle flame. You really created a flicker effect!! v and tw and g+
Lois Bryan replied:
Hey Carla ... thank you!!! I really appreciate that. I had a comment from someone whose opinion I really trust who thought it should be smoothed out and softened ... but I really loved the odd way this turned out ... I thought it helped emphasize all the geometric angles already in the image. Soo ... contrary me, I left it as is, lol!! That it caught your eye and you liked it means the world. Thank you again!!!!

Such lovely rich warmth in your treatment, Lois, a fine romance indeed, l/f
Lois Bryan replied:
thank you, Gina ... the warmth is actually the product of a sweaty hot summer night with no electricity ... so yeah ... "warmth" indeed!!!! LOL!!!

Oh my Lois, this image just pulls me into the painting with a desire to sit by a warm fireplace, put my feet up & read a romance novel. L/F
