Description
"A Walk In The Park" tied for third place in the "Online Contest - Sold in March on FAA" April 21, 2016. My thanks to Karen Wiles, the contest's administrator, and to everyone who voted for my image. Sincere congratulations to the first and second place winners and to my co-third place winners.
I was doing some model home photography in Annapolis a few years ago. It had been a very long day, and though contorting my body into some pretty unnatural pretzel shapes to get just the right angle will wear me out, it's something that I enjoy very much. It's different from the kind of photographic / digital artwork that I display here on my website and the discipline always takes me down quite a different creative road.
Needless to say, as I drove home that evening my mind was set on getting in the house, unloading my equipment, and having a lovely cup of hot tea ... or ... whatever. As I drove past the glowing colors of the azaleas at Brighton Azalea Garden, I had to think twice about stopping and getting some snaps. In fact, I even drove a little way down the road and before I turned around and came back. I'd never taken shots at the azalea gardens in the early evening ... I'd only been there in the mornings or early afternoon and I knew the light and feel and mood of the place would be quite different.
When I look at this particular image, I remember that glorious evening and am always glad I stopped.
Image taken with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm vr Nikkor lens. A bit of editing in Photoshop to create a dreamy, restful feeling.
