A delicate blue Japanese Iris backlit by the sunlight of a lovely May morning. Image taken in Maryland with the Nikon D300 and the 105mm Nikon macro lens. Some fun photoshop tweaks including addition of a Flypaper texture added in Photoshop CS5.

Hi Betty!!! Thank you ... the flower itself was in the shade ... but the grass in the background was in the sunlight. That and a wide open aperture created the glow!!

I love these Iris, Lois. We have some in our garden and I'm always sad when they fade from bloom. This one looks particularly beautiful against that cheerful sunny background!

Michael, these don't seem to last as long as the regular iris but they're so delicate ... i love them. A few years ago, somehow we got some white ones coming up ... I keep meaning to get a shot of one of them uploaded as well ... mother nature gave us a lovely surprise!!!!!
