Description
My favorite flowers, the sunshiny yellow daffodils, are peeking around the corner of the white-brick wall in the garden at my house, soaking up the last rays of the afternoon sunshine. When I smell their unique fragrance, I know spring has finally sprung. Originally transplanted from my mom's garden and given to me over 25 years ago, my daffodils had a very hard winter this year. Their pretty green shoots came up much later than usual, but once they got started, they sprouted up and bloomed with as much energy and determination as I've ever seen. Several things in our garden didn't make it through the long, dark, snowy months (including a beautiful grandiflora magnolia tree), but the daffodils seemed livelier and prettier than ever!
Original photographic image taken April 9, 2014 with the Nikon D7000 and the Nikon Nifty-Fifty 50mm f/1.8 lens. Treated to much tinkering in Photoshop and completely hand painted in Corel Paint 11 using the "chalk" brushes for a light and breezy look that I thought would be appropriate to the subject.

Thank you, Mary Lou ... I used to paint with oils ... keep telling myself I'll get back to it one of these days ... but this is so much cleaner, lol!!!
