Description
Truly honored to announce that "A Cherry Blossom Sunset" finished in 2nd place in the "Landmarks In America" contest 3/11/18 held by the Travel Art Group. My sincere thanks to the contest administrator Tatiana Travelways and to everyone who voted for my image. Congratulations to the other winners!!!
A visit to Washington DC wouldn't be complete without a tour of our beautiful National Monuments. One of my favorites is the neo-classical Jefferson Memorial, designed after the Pantheon in Rome. It's location on the National Mall's Tidal Basin lends a dreamy quality that always enhances the scene as the waters pick up the varying colors of the sky above.
Though spring is the most popular time to visit, the area is beautiful at all times of the year.
"A Cherry Blossom Sunset" is a warmer, sunset version of a previously added image to my portfolio, "A Cherry Blossom Dawn."
Fine art purchases of this image will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation ... this image will look its very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."

Love the warmth of this scene and the great shot of one of our national treasures, didn't know it was designed after the Pantheon, but now I see it makes perfect sense.

Beautiful scene...........I'm looking forward to photographing it as well............
Lois Bryan replied:
Oh, Tim ... how fun for you!!! If I may offer a bit of advice, if you go during the Cherry Blossom Festival, go VERY early in the morning ... it gets stupid-crowded!!!!! This series was done on the morning after a light snowfall (I was hoping for snow / cherry blossom pics, but they were not to be. But I was there early enough to be able to avoid the worst of the crowds. Of course I snapped like a very speedy-crazy-woman because as the sun got stronger, the people flocked in.
