Description
A frosty early morning look at the rear entrance of the Beallair Mansion, once home to Col. Lewis Washington, grand nephew of George Washington, both of which played a part in John Brown's raid on Harper's Ferry in October of 1859.
Another early-morning dog walk.
Your eyes aren't completely open yet, nor is your brain completely functioning. Mother Nature's frosty, foggy autumn morning matches your mood. No bright rays of sun ... no brilliant autumn colors ... those are gone ... well at least for the present. And in the oncoming several months the gray will only intensify. The colorless frosty air you breathe matches the sluggish feel in your icy bones. You dig your gloved hands deeper into your pockets and hunch your shoulders against the still, chill air. What on earth are you doing out this early, anyway?
Your dog barks at nothing. Even the squirrels are still in bed.
The pup is finally ready to head back home. Back to a warm dog bed for him ... and a hot coffee for you.
There's a faint glow in the sky now, looks like the sun is finally trying to break through ... but who's kidding who ... it's going to be a long winter.
Image loosely based on one of my photos captured at the amazing Beallair Mansion, once home of Col. Lewis Washington, a nephew of George Washington.
This was once the home of Col. Lewis Washington, grand nephew of George Washington. John Brown (civil war / John Brown's raid on Harper's Ferry (October 1859)) actually broke in the night of his raid on Harper's Ferry, kidnapped the owner, who was a grand nephew of George Washington, and grabbed Washington's sword which was hanging in the house, then off he went to do his thing in Harper's Ferry. The owner, Col. Lewis Washington, did get away and was okay, but some of the other people Brown abducted weren't so lucky.
Fine art purchases of this image will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation ... this image will look its very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."

You have an innate ability to heighten your works through vision, your renditions are marvelous. The painterly feel of this one and the mood you created is so superb to me, I see gentle nuances of light on top of the hedge and the range of values is wonderful, so keen is your eye and final work is superb FAV++/L
