Description

A gorgeous juvenile osprey looks more than ready to spread his massive wings and take flight into the bright summer-morning skies of North Carolina's Outer Banks. Heard before seen, his high pitched peep-peep-peep-peeps bring all eyes to search him out. Located not far from the popular Sunset Raw Bar and Grill in Duck, NC, his calls add a fun wildlife authenticity to the experience of the passersby.

Though he stretched his wings while we watched, he seemed to know that once he left the nest his life would never be the same. Mom and Dad flew in and out but spent most of my visit on the pilings of a nearby pier. Even days after this photo was taken, our little guy remained stubbornly perched on his nest. Clearly, life is very good in Osprey-Land.
