A brisk, chill stream cuts its way through the hilly landscape of the foothills of the ancient, rounded Blue Ridge Mountains on a glorious autumn day in the Shenandoah Valley. Somewhere the waters will meet up with the beautiful Shenandoah River and travel onward to join with the Potomac, then on to the Chesapeake and the mighty Atlantic herself.

Though I didn't grow up here, somehow every time I see the rolling mountains in the distance all around me, I feel like I'm back where I belong. Ancestral memories of the Caucasus Mountains and the Black Sea? Maybe.

Title taken from the lyrics of one of my favorite pieces of music, "Feels Like Home," from Bonnie Raitt, found on the soundtrack of one of my favorite movies, "Michael."

Painted freehand digitally from my imagination in Corel Painter with a Wacom tablet and art pen stylus, utilizing many beautiful brushes.
