Description
A sweet black and tan hound dog looks out at us on a summer's afternoon ... after a morning of play with his doggie friends, this doll-baby is ready for a bowl of cool water and a treat ... and a nap in the shade.
In my family "black and tan" usually refers to a beer of some kind. Or is is ale? Either way, I found myself spending time this evening trying to identify this guy's breed. Definitely a hound-dog ... but a black and tan coonhound? Ears not quite long enough, though in this image they are definitely perked upwards a bit (I must have been talking to him in that high-squeeky voice I reserve for puppy-dogs). Don't think he's a blue tick, none of those cool speckles and spots. Could be the treeing walker coonhound? Not a foxhound, I don't think ... too short. Possibly a mix. If anyone is familiar with him, I'd love to know too!!! Either way ... what a sweetie!!!!
Fine art purchases of this image will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation ... this image will look its very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."

A great capture of that distinctive doggie expression - like, hey, you want to play with me now, huh, huh? He looks like he could well be a combo of the breeds - 'cause maybe his daddy was a real "hound dog"! Nothing quite like animal pics to make one smile and this certainly did it for me. Fav'd!
Lois Bryan replied:
Thanks so so much, Rene ... and I agree, when the critter is looking directly back at us and smiling, how can we not smile back?? : )) Thank you again!!!
