Description
A majestic creature, the American Black Bear … also known as Ursus Americanus … strolls out of the forest, stops, sits and gazes around his kingdom. Clearly the king of the forest, he must know how beautiful, how magnificent he is. The glow of the autumn leaves and light from the setting sun turning his coat from black to warm brown. His walk on all fours is a rolling lumbering gait, the late afternoon sun catching his gleaming coat in shining waves. Though the location, the deep forests surrounding Blue Knob All Seasons Resort on top of Blue Knob Mountain, is his home, he is shy and seldom seen. It was a rare gift to find him and capture his image.
Image sketched and painted by hand, digitally, using one of my own photos as a starting point for the sketch and colors in Corel Painter, a Wacom tablet, the art pen stylus and a wide variety of beautiful digital brushes. The photo on which this is based was taken with my Nikon D300 and the Sigma 150-500mm lens in June of 2011.
This image was not created using AI - Artificial Intelligence programs.
Fine art and product purchases of this image will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation ... it will look its very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."

Kathi, thank you!!! He had just come out from the woods and was looking around to make sure there were no hoomans around,. The big green dumpster is just off to his side, and he climbed in and had a lovely dinner there.
