Description
A stroll through beautiful Colonial Williamsburg is like moving backward in time at any season of the year. On a soft September afternoon, the sky can be as blue as sapphires and the greens of the trees and lawns like emeralds. The true gem of the town is the Governor's Palace. Using your imagination, you have only to close your eyes and open them again to be transported to a time long gone.
Construction on the palace was begun in 1706 and completed in 1722. A fire destroyed it in 1781, but it was reconstructed through the efforts of Reverend Dr. W.A.R. Goodwin, rector of Bruton Parish Church and philanthropist John D. Rockefeller Jr., whose family provided major funding, in the early 20th century. The Palace's house, outbuildings, and gardens opened as an exhibition on April 23, 1934 and is enjoyed by visitors to this day.
This image has been hand-painted, digitally, using my own original photography (not from stock or "public domain") as a guide, in Corel Painter.
Products and fine art purchases of this image will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation ... wall-art purchases will look their very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."
