Tail wagging, eyes all a-glitter ... the expression on this darling Maltese dog's face definitely is a hopeful one. We should never make the mistake of underestimating the intelligence of our pets ... they can have a considerable passive vocabulary ... which means they can understand somewhere in the neighborhood of 90 words. In our case, right at the top of the list would have to be the word "treat." Any time of day or night, say that word, and my favorite model, Buddy The Dog's, ears perk up, the eyes sparkle and the tail wags!!
The boy does love his treats!!
This painting is based on one of my own photos (not from "stock" or public domain) which I used as a starting point and which I loosely sketched and digitally hand painted using Corel Painter.
