Honored to announce that "Facing South" has won the 6/5/2021 juried contest "Orange Euphoria Logo" held by the "Orange Euphoria" group. Many thanks to the contest and group administrator, Rahdne Zola, and to the members of the jury. Congratulations to the other winners!!
After moving to the northern Shenandoah Valley a couple of years ago, I'm noticing a lot of cloud and sky formations that are very different to what I was used to seeing in the Washington DC area. Number one, of course, is the lack of pollution, though DC isn't really that bad most of the time. But number two, being in the valley between the western and more rugged Blue Ridge and the scattered and lower elevation range that rings the confluence of the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers, the air can get quite frisky at times.
One such time was an evening not long after our move, in October of 2015. Maybe it was because we were so new to the area ... or maybe it was because I'd just unpacked my cameras and had one in my hands ... but I was ... and still am ... amazed at the celestial displays we often see!!
By the way, I'm sure the sunrises are just as lovely. I've just never seen one.
