A magnificent Festiva Maxima peony bloom, although a shade lover, seems to somehow gather the sunlight from the rest of the garden and enfold it into her glowing petals. The intoxicating fragrance of the Festiva Maxima haunts me, even though it's been 8 years since I've seen my sweet peony friend.
I used my own original photo to loosely sketch the image, then digitally paint it, freehand, in a very loose impressionistic style, in Corel Painter.
