Honored to announce that "Fluffy Cooper's Hawk In Snow" tied for first place in the Fine Art America challenge Vertical Photography hosted by the Vertical Images Group. On a cold and snowy February morning you can be sure to find little birdies flocking to our well-stocked feeders. Tiny house finches, American goldfinches, cardinals, mourning doves, black capped chickadees and more flit back and forth between the nearby trees and the juicy seeds they love. Gazing out the window, a sudden lack of activity can mean many things ... but glancing further on we get our answer to the question of where all the little guys went.
A large Cooper's Hawk perches on an icy wooden fence post. The fluffed up feathers reveal her distaste for the frigid temperatures and her attempt to keep warm ... the frown on her face clearly illustrates her disgust at the lack of breakfast material available. Her long wait proves fruitless. Eventually she stretches her wings and flap, flap glides away.
In time, the little birds return and resume their own meal.
