The quiet of a peaceful summer afternoon along North Carolina's Outer Banks is briefly interrupted by a Coast Guard helicopter fly-over, probably from nearby Hampton Roads. It's always interesting to see our men in uniform so casually enjoying the beauty of the day, while keeping watch for us. Many times, they even wave!! As a mom, I wanted to shout up to him ... get back inside! Put on your seatbelt! But in deference to my family gathered around, and in the knowledge that he might not be able to hear me, I kept silent. Still ....
