Description
A quiet rural scene captured somewhere in Great Britain on a lovely, sunny May day in 2012 by my son, Rich Bryan, when he was studying in Edinburgh, Scotland. He was using the Nikon D40x and the 18-135mm Nikkor lens.
In looking at the wonderful stone fences ... and you can see they trail and zig-zag up and down the hills in the background ... you can't help thinking about the generations of people who built and maintained them in years gone by. The top of the hill, though it may be hard to distinguish thanks to my wobbly, painterly strokes, is actually covered with rocks and boulders. To build the fences, in my imagination, I see the farmers working to dislodge the rocks, break them up, and haul them down to the valley. This was probably all done with a horse and cart. To me, knowing this makes me appreciate the lovely scene even more.
I don't know quite where this was taken and hope to be getting a bit more information about the location soon. Will update when I do.
I couldn't help giving this one some tweaks in Photoshop and an impressionistic, painterly flair by fully hand-painting it in Corel Painter 2015.

Hey Dee!!! Thank you ... glad you liked the barn ... I thought it made for a great focal point, plus, it really gives a sense of scale to the whole scene.

Beautiful rural scene, I can see someone wanting to jump the fence and wander around with a lovely basket of food looking for that perfect spot to have lunch.
