Description
Honored to announce that "Jack Rabbit" tied for First Place in the Fine Art America Contest "Ski" held by the New Mexico Paintings Group, February 22, 2016. My sincere thanks to everyone who voted for my image and to the group / contest host Celeste Drewien. Congratulations also to my co-first place winners, Thomas Dudas, Blackwater Studio and Adele Buttolph.
Jack Rabbit slope at Blue Knob All Seasons Resort was once called Bunny Hop. But because the word "Bunny" gives people the idea that this is a beginner's trail, the name was changed. As you can see from this view, the slope looks gentle and easy. As I stand on my deck, sipping my cocoa and watching the newbies happily gliding past in their determined pizza-wedges, I shake my head and say a little prayer. Just out of camera range the slope changes dramatically. A sharp downward drop and wicked quick right turn and ... you'd better get ready!!!
Image taken from our deck in December of 2012 with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm VR Nikon / Nikkor lens.

What a winter beauty, Lois. I’d be better off from the deck and the others shushes safer too. Nice work. - Mike (V/F)

Michael, yeah, that's where I am too, now. My husband still skis like crazy, though .. he's even an instructor up there at Blue Knob!!

I so miss snow! Two years now without a good snow photo op in the city here. This is beautiful Lois.
