Description
The hunt for covered bridges on a fine autumn afternoon while the sun beams down between the trees carries you along winding country road after winding country road. Broad expanses of fields transform into narrow, tree-lined, steep lanes and bring you down to where stream and road intersect. And suddenly, there you are ... beside one of the jewels of Central Pennsylvania. Jackson's Mill Bridge, in crisply red-trimmed white, is the quintessential Kissing Bridge of old. As you stand in the brilliant light and shadow and color of the afternoon, you can almost hear the giggles and feel the joy felt by the lovers of long ago.
Across the broad face of the roof gable are the words: “$5.00 Fine For Riding or Driving Over This Bridge Faster Than A Walk. Built By Karns Rohm 1889.” I made the artistic decision to remove them for the image ... but as far as I know, they're still there.
Jackson's Mill Bridge is tucked away a few miles south of Breezewood, PA. I've tried to find it again ... but without luck! Image hand-painted in Corel Painter with stylus and many digital brushes from a photo I took in October 2008, a great year for fall colors!!

Fine art purchases of this image will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation ... this image will look its very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."

Lois Bryan replied:
Thank you so much, Scott. The year of 2008 hasn't yet been matched for fall color around here, in my humble opinion. Good thing I was busy with my camera that season!!! ; ))
