Honored to announce that "Liberty Wood Stove" tied for 3rd place in the Fine Art America "Decay" Contest November 4th, 2015. My thanks to the contest administrator Choco Friedrich and congratulations to the first and second place winners, Jane Linders and Stacey Brooks, and to my fellow third place winner, Stacey Brooks.
A wonderful old wood-burning stove found on one of my trips to Old Bedford Village in Bedford, Pennsylvania. If you look very closely at the lower rim of the door, you can just make out the blue and orange tongues of the flame inside the belly of the stove that warmed the old shop that day. This takes me way back, as my uncle had a stove very much like this in his little "shack" as we called it, apart from the main farmhouse at my grandparents' place near Crofton, Maryland ... long, long ago.
I'd like to dedicate this to the amazing John Sokoloff and his magnificent new album "In the Melancholy Way" which I so enjoyed listening to the whole time I played with this little image. His music can be found on YouTube, here:
