Alone in the vast meadow, two young pine trees stand and wait. Even before the first snow falls they wonder together in voices we cannot hear … maybe this year? Maybe this year the humans will come … maybe they'll come with their sharp axes and cut us down and take us into their homes and decorate us for Christmas. Maybe this year.
As a little kid, our Christmas trees always came from a field at my grandparents' farm that looked something like this. But even as a kid, I had mixed feelings about cutting down the tree. Yes, it smelled amazing fresh from the field … and yes it looked so festive and pretty all decorated with lights and ornaments and tinsel. And it looked especially festive when the presents started to accumulate underneath. But still, I always wondered, did the trees like being cut down and decorated?
Did their "Maybe This Year" come from a place of hope … or dread?
Needless to say, we have an artificial tree now.

Welcome! I"m a photographer and digital artist living in the Mid-Atlantic area of the US. Drawing and creating my own little sketchy worlds are some of my earliest memories. Life did what it does and the art fell away, but I reconnected when digital photography was introduced.
