NOTE: FINE ART AMERICA WATERMARK WILL NOT APPEAR ON PURCHASED IMAGE.
A quiet Monday afternoon after the hustle and bustle of the boaters' weekend fun at Pirates Cove, West River, Maryland. Image taken July 16, 2012 with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens. Much tnkering in Photoshop including a trip to Photomatix Pro, Adobe Camera Raw and Capture NX2. My thanks to Leslie Nicole for the great textures. There's a little surprise in this image that I missed while snapping ... can you spot it??

This is a dock not a pier, you beauty.
Lois Bryan replied:
< laughing > ... well, I spent a good part of my little-kid-hood not far from this very spot. Anne Arundel County, not far from Annapolis. It must be a local or maybe a family thing ... we used the terms interchangeably. All the time. ; ))

A beautiful scene enhanced with your technique, I think your surprise was the gull you caught, great capture. a fav & voted. Carol
Lois Bryan replied:
Hi Carol!!!! Thank you so so much ... yes, it's a little swallow, I'm pretty sure .. I love it when the camera sees what I don't!!

What a lovely serene dockside scene... without any people. Hence the title? And I so like the bird flying just above the water in the foreground. Is that what you had missed seing, Lois? I think it's fun when something neat shows up unexpectedly when I look at it on the computer screen.
Lois Bryan replied:
Hi Ann!!! Yes, it was a Monday when I was there ... and I was just amazed that the place wasn't bustling with folks going sailing ... I guess it's a different story on the weekend. And yes, it's the little swallow ... I love it, too, when the camera sees what the photographer did not!!! Thanks so much for dropping by!!!
Lynda Lehmann
Excellent capture and comp, with beautiful repetition of elements! F/V!
Lois Bryan replied:
Hi Lynda, thank you!!!! I've always loved these geometrical kinds of things ... lines and angles!!! Glad you enjoyed it too!!

wonderful work Lois without reading the other comments i am going to say the little birdie which looks like a falcon but may be a swallow
Lois Bryan replied:
Mike, that's it!!!! He flew up just as I snapped the shutter ... and actually made it into the frame AND wasn't all blurred!!!! I was so pleased!!!! Thank you!!!!
Jeff Swanson
Awesome post processing with this photo Lois.
Lois Bryan replied:
thanks so much, Jeff ... the light was kind of flat, so it really needed some jizzing up ... glad you liked it!!!

I saw the sea gull before I looked at the comments. This is terrific Lois. I can't wait for Tuesday Tuesday. You definitely got my vote.
Lois Bryan replied:
thank, James ... I was tempted to put him up a little, more in the sky ... but thought he was kind of fun where he was ... glad you spotted him so quickly!!!!

Can't trust that day. :) Beautiful shot, and the texture you added is wonderful, Lois. Vote.
Lois Bryan replied:
YEP!!!! I was amazed that there was just no one around!!!! There were oodles of sail boats, all tied up neatly to their piers at the marinas ... just waiting for folks to come on down and play!!!!!
Lori Tambakis

Lois Bryan replied:
Thanks so much, Lori ... I love it when the camera sees what the photographer doesn't!!!!!
