A colorful still life of the popular tiny pumpkins and a golden apple are surrounded and supported by an old tree branch ... the arrangement complimented with some turning fall leaves and nuts and berries.
This is a new version of a personal favorite which can also be found here, "Tiny Pumpkins." I've flipped the image from a vertical to a horizontally oriented format, and done some other tinkering for a new look.
When I was a kid, a pumpkin was a pumpkin. Now mind you, this was a few decades back, but our pumpkins were always orange, smooth skinned without the pretty lined grooves, and the bigger the better. These days a visit to the local farmer's market is a delight in the varieties we find ... so many different colors and shapes to choose from. Whether your plans are to cut, scoop, carve and add a candle ... or just to arrange as many as you can on top of an old hay bale ... the pumpkins are a sign of goodbye to the tired summer season and a welcome to the beauties of autumn.
"Tiny Pumpkins" was hand sketched completely freehand and painted in Corel Painter 2019 with a Wacom tablet, the art pen and digital brushes. Unlike many of my images, there was no photo reference ... just eyeballs and hands! I used one of our autumn door wreaths as my model.
