A stack of colorful books is neatly arranged beside a lush green potted plant, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The gentle play of light and shadow adds warmth to the scene.

This little stack of books which has pride of place in our bedroom, is mostly made up of my deeply worn and many-times re-read collection of Jane Austen Books and a couple of Brontes. It is always available to me ... the voices in there belong to my dear friends ... friends I go to when I'm perplexed by the slings and arrows of outrageous real life fortune. I know what Emma would say, or how Lizzy would react, and that gives me great comfort. There are a couple of much loved Brontes in the stack as well, but I noticed that a very important Bronte is missing. I must have been reading "Shirley" at the time I took the reference photo. I'm pretty sure I know what Shirley would have to say about things, too!

Pictured are: Jane Eyre, Mansfield Park, Northanger Abbey, Persuasion, Emma, Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Villette, Sanditon.

This image is very loosely based on my own photo (not from stock or public domain) and digitally hand-painted in Corel Painter 2023 with the Wacom art pen and tablet. No Ai programs involved.
