Description
An old married couple, weathering a brief snow shower, hunker down and fluff up for warmth on a chilly winter morning. Mourning doves, or morning doves as some call them, are an integral part of the wildlife landscape in the Mid Atlantic area of the US. Their mournful cooo cooo cooo is enjoyed year round and never fails to bring a smile and sense of calm to those who hear it. Even in the dead of winter, with snow shower after blizzard after flurry, they appear regularly for their meals at our feeders, keeping a sharp eye out for predators, and happily singing their soft songs.
Very loosely sketched from a photo I took on a snowy morning in January. Hand-painted in Corel Painter 2019 and the Wacom Tablet with a variety of brushes, including many from the newest thick-paint technology collection.
This image was NOT created using AI - Artificial Intelligence programs.
Fine art purchases of this image will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation ... it will look its very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."

I love the way that they are facing in opposite directions, Lois. They really do seem like an old married couple as you suggest. Nice done! f
