"My Best Friend, Jane"

Jane Austen is my best friend. She has never failed to take me out of whatever crisis the universe has decided to hurl my way and land me safely in a place peopled by the most authentic personalities. They may have been born (penned, of course) in the very early 1800s, but are as contemporary and vital and hilarious and genuine as if they lived next door to me. I know them all. I love them all. Yes, I hear voices. The voices of my friends.
