Description
So happy that "Mykonos Church" won 2nd place in the 8/30/2022 contest "Mediterranean Art." Many thanks to contest administrator, D Cc, and everyone who voted for my image. Congratulations to the other winners!
A trip to Greece and her beautiful islands wouldn't be complete without a visit to sunny Mykonos. There is no blue ... there is no sunlight ... there is no white ... like you'll see in the Greek Isles ... and the sight of the little church of Panagia Paraportiani (Our Lady of the Postern Gate), which dates back to the 1400s, incorporates all three. This unique structure with its asymmetrical shape is due to it actually being five tiny churches squeezed together -- four below at ground level and one above. Seen here from an unusual angle, there's a hint of the glorious blue Aegean sea just beyond and to the right. See it?
Sunny and windy and wild and wonderful ... a visit you'll never forget!!
Image painted by hand, digitally, and very loosely based on one of my own photos using Corel Painter 2019, a Wacom tablet and the art pen stylus and many beautiful digital brushes.
This image was NOT created using AI - Artificial Intelligence.
Fine art purchases of this image will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation ... it will look its very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."
