NOTE: FINE ART AMERICA WATERMARK WILL NOT APPEAR ON PURCHASED IMAGE.
A selection of old books on my bookcase .. most of which I've read and enjoyed. Image taken with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm vr Nikon/Nikkor lens. Photoshopping included textures from the great Jerry Jones of ShadowHouse creations. There is, however, a mistake in this image ... can you spot it??

Such a beautiful capture and effects, Lois. My folks used to have duck bookends just like these.

A dream I have is - if ever I won lotto LOL, I'd have a library in my mansion. It would be a room with big drapes with a window looking out onto a garden, there would be a wood fireplace and the shelves would be packed with the classics. This made me smile and think about the details of my fantasy library - of course, this would be hanging on the wall too :-))))) I love it when art takes you somewhere and so much of your work does that :-))))) F/V
Lois Bryan replied:
Oh Kym ... how I love your dream!!!! I'm so glad my little image took you to such a beautiful place!!! I think that's one of the reasons I enjoy visiting other people's images so much ... I feel like there's a genuine connection between us when it happens!!! Thank you!!!!

Lois, the rich gold tones here are captivating and poignant somehow. I love it! Featured/f/v/liked on Fb and g+ pages.

Lois, Wonderfully textured image and an interesting discussion thread to boot! I'm with Chris above, this must be the solution to the case of the missing Sir Walter Scott: In the library, with Miss Lois. I'm a fellow vintage book lover too and this looks very similar to the shelf above my desk as I type. Well captured! voted
Lois Bryan replied:
I'm laughing!!!! Well, it could well be!!!! Not a clue how my parents wound up with two ... I grew up with these and so many others ... they truly are my old friends!!!!!
Bob Orsillo
Lois this is so fine! & must be your favorite book :) V/F
Lois Bryan replied:
Bob, thanks so so much. Actually my favorites are Jane Austens, but my copies of those are all in very worn out paperbacks!!! I did a shoot of them a while back ... maybe upload it one day, too.
Sandi OReilly
Lois, evokes a feeling of relaxing with a good book from another time. Beautifully done f/v.
Lois Bryan replied:
Sandi, thank you ... these certainly are from another time ... they belonged to my mom and dad.
Chris Lord
Lois, are you sure you don't have Lianne's copy of Ivanhoe, she's missing a Scott volume???? Well you do have an extra one :-) Hey I think it looks even better over here.
Lois Bryan replied:
HAHHA .. I may!!!! Heaven only knows!!!!! Thanks Chris, when I posted it on FB, it was VERY late at night ... not only the snapping of the pic, but the processing and uploading. I prefer to "sit" on a shot for at least a day before uploading, to see it under different lighting. So this is a lighter, slightly more vibrant version.

I knew we were kindred souls Lois - I have shelves of old worn leather books too (and one missing volume from a set of Sir Walter Scott. But the image...oh it evokes the kind of warmth and welcome only old and much loved books can! Beautiful (and who cares if they're in order - which would only prove you never moved them!) F/V
Lois Bryan replied:
Oh, Lianne, I'm a hopeless case when it comes to books. I'm the type, if I don't have my nose stuck in a camera, it's stuck in a book!!!!! Glad you enjoyed this one, and hope you find your lost Scott!!!!! : (( I can't find my flippin' Jane Eyre to save my LIFE.
