NOTE: FINE ART AMERICA WATERMARK WILL NOT APPEAR ON PURCHASED IMAGE.
A once-lovely old home, now being taken back by Mother Nature ... slowly, gracefully. Found along a country road in Delaware, June of 2012. Image taken with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens. Lots of fun in Adobe Camera Raw, Photoshop, Photomatix pro and Capture NX2. My thanks to Jerry Jones of ShadowHouse Creations for the texture.
I had the feeling this old girl was still waiting for her family to come back. There was a sense of patient waiting, even though her future seems pretty hopeless to me, it didn't seem like she quite realized that yet. Maybe it was because of the time of day ... that golden hour ... but I didn't have to heart to do this image up all spooky and too dark ... so I gave her a little hope in the summery colors.

Hi Lois! I don't think I have ever seen a house so taken over by vines. Love the treatment. What a great texture! L/F

Beautiful work! This once-lovely home must have been witness to the unfolding lives of so many people........if only those walls could speak !!

Enchanting find, capture and digital enhancements, Lois, I find myself captivated by the haunting beauty of Nature reclaiming properties that have outlived their original purpose. I see fresh, new life in the overgrowth of clinging ivy vines and mosses—like garlands on a Christmas tree; hiding imperfections, and adding to the allurement. L/V&F

I love this house! There is one much like it in Show Low, Arizona ... though not as returned to earth as this darling beauty. This sort of house always seems to be calling to me. Beautiful work, and VERY beautifully done! Voted (and voted), and favorite!

Peri, thank you ... found this one up in Delaware ... I nearly skidded off the road when I caught it out of the side of my eye ... glad it called to you, too!!!!! Thanks so much for your note and the votes and fave!!!! Much appreciated!!!

During the day, this house is the stuff of fairy tales. At night you'll find Stephen King lurking in the bushes. A beautiful image thanks to your superb post-processing.
Lois Bryan replied:
Odd, I'm sure you're right about that!!!!! As you can see, I drove past during the golden hour ... have NO desire to go back after dark!!!!! LOL!!! Thanks so much for stopping by!!!!
