Description
An image of one of the main piers at the Pirate's Cove Marina in Galesville, Maryland, located on the West River, a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay. I've always loved the geometry of the spars even when they're not luffed out with the wind in their sails ... this was a beautiful, sunny day, but a Monday ... I can only imagine how crowded this spot would be on a pretty, sunny weekend!
Image taken with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens.
Fine art purchases of this image will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation ... this image will look its very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."

Fab capture, Lois! Love, love the geometry of the spars. Math really is all around us every day and this is one proof! The clouds are magnificent. L/F
Lois Bryan replied:

Awesome capture Lois! Great depth and the clouds are perfect.
Lois Bryan replied:
Thanks so much ... it was such a beautiful day ... mid week, so no one was around. I had a field day with the camera!!

Outstanding framing, truly well done, that is an ancient pier. I live close to a marina and when I need a good photo I go there. but no character like this beauty.
Lois Bryan replied:
John thank you!!! This area is usually alive with folks coming and going ... but it was a Monday afternoon and all the sailers were stuck behind their work-a-day desks!! I was very lucky with the sunshine and the clouds!!

I look for this dock exactly like this for a long time, wooden. This has character to the max, the green hoses, the whole scene is just super.

Really like the vanishing point perspective of the masts, it pulls the viewer into the picture.

Beautiful place, fabulous work, Lois. Love those clouds:-) (v)
Lois Bryan replied:
thank you, Irina ... and I agree ... when Mother Nature cooperates with the clouds, it makes any image more fun!!

I actually got to fish in Chesapeake Bay once Lois. My father's side of the family reside in Virginia. When my father passed away, I took his ashes back to Virginia from Indiana. His oldest brother was still alive at the time and we all went to their fishing camp on the bay. It was a great day! This shot brims with the atmosphere of place and time. Love it! V/F
Lois Bryan replied:
Beautiful story, Scott ... there's no greater compliment than to hear an image touched a chord in someone else. I've lived around the bay and its tributaries all my life and it's a wonderful area. Thank you so much for your note!!
