Description
A pretty little thistle weed, all bright purple and dark green, catches our eye in the forest as we walk along the trails. A nature walk in summer is one of my favorite things to do up on Blue Knob mountain, PA ... but one thing I've learned the hard way. The thistles that line the paths may be pretty, but they can mean pain and havoc for the dogs. The spikey prickles that spin out from the bulb are adept at catching in the coats of the animals ... especially as the season advances into autumn ... and many an afternoon has been spent in searching out the tiniest spikey needle ... a needle that can work its way through their coats and to the skin! Watch out for pretty little troublemakers!
Image captured in August of 2011 with the Nikon 300 and 105mm macro lens.
Fine art and product purchases of this image will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation ... wall art of this image will look its very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."

Absolutely stunning close up Lois! ❤ l/f
Lois Bryan replied:
Thanks, Chris ... I'm fascinated with macros of florals ... the hard part is holding my breath so the camera doesn't wiggle ... or getting the wind not to blow!!!

Hurrah for having your artwork chosen to be a featured piece on our homepage this week. You have many fine pieces in your portfolio of your works, and I am happy you chose this one to submit for possible featuring in our group on the homepage. It now has reached that goal of being featured in our group, a family of friends and fine artists of the Wisconsin Flowers and Scenery Group. Congratulations on this fine accomplishment
