Description
A field of the pretty wildflower, Queen Anne's Lace (Daucus Carota) always a lovely sight, can be even lovelier en masse. Captured here in the glow of a setting summer sun, I love seeing their broad heads turned toward the light.
There's an old story I heard a long time ago about this flower that I've never forgotten. Queen Anne ... one of the English queens, but I don't know which one ... was creating some pretty lace ... and as she was doing so she pricked her finger. Queen Anne's lace, which is actually made up of many tiny white flowers has a center flower ... not white, but a lovely shade of dark maroon. It represents the tiny drop of blood from Queen Anne. If you look carefully at my image, especially at the flower center and slightly down and slightly to the right, you'll see it!!!
Image taken in August of 2016 in near Harper's Ferry, West Virginia.

That warm glow bathing this densely populated field makes for a very lovely image, Lois! Well captured, and an interesting narrative too! L/F

Thank you, Wes!!! It's always a treat when they don't chop down the wildflowers!!!
