Description
A large, very old building ... the front porch hanging by a thread, many windows broken, still retains a sense of grace behind her large orange hedges, long overgrown. Original photographic image captured along Route 30 somewhere between Chambersburg and Bedford, (or Harrisburg and Breezewood?) Pennsylvania. I have no idea what this structure once was ... a grand farm home ... a hotel ... or a country store? It's very near the road, but right out in the middle of nowhere ... there is no town here. It's a mystery!!
"Remembering When" is a different treatment on a personal favorite,( also posted here at FAA, the digitally painted "Remember When").
Image captured November, 2009 with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm vr Nikon Lens. HDR in Photomatix Pro and texture from Jerry Jones applied in Photoshop CS4.

Agree with you about possibility of being a hotel. The redness of the bushes in the foreground make a nice contrast to the wooden structure. Beautiful work, Lois l

I looks a little scary, I wonder what this old complex was use for too. Commune maybe... Thanks for sending it to MOUSE!! F/V
Lois Bryan replied:
Thank you, Barbara!!! I think it was too close to a pretty main road for a commune ... but one never knows!!

Lois, I love discovering structures like this too - great find! I wonder if it could have been a school of some kind? If there is a railroad nearby, it could have also been a railroad hotel for the change-over of the crews. Enjoyed your comment about leaving tire-marks on the road when you spotted this:-) Gave it a vote here & in "That Contest that You Entered" contest also. v
Lois Bryan replied:
Hi Cheri ... you know, it could have been a school, except that it was VERY close to the road. Of course heaven only knows when whatever this was was in use. Possibility about the railroad, but I don't remember seeing tracks nearby ...
