A brilliant golden sun has risen over the gently decaying ruins of a once-magnificent Roman arch. Discovered far from cities and the hustle and bustle of the 21st century, its usual visitors are four footed and uninterested in the glory of days long gone. But the sun continues to rise, even on frosty winter mornings, the cow-paths which were once busy roads in millennia past, continue to wind beside the structure and soon spring will come. The seasons turn, and the thousands-year-old arch remains as a determined testament to man's ambitions and energies. For now.
Digitally hand painted freehand in an impressionistic / abstract style by a human (me!) from my imagination in Corel Painter. I freehand sketched an arch that I photographed in 2005 from, I'm pretty sure, the Forum area in Rome. No photographic base.
