"Secret Garden" came in Second (or third, however you look at it, lol) in the Fine Art America "Stone Walls" contest on October 19, 2015. My thanks to everyone who voted for my image and to the contest administrator Brian Mickey. Congratulations to Timothy Hacker who took both first and second place (or tied for first, again, however you want to look at it). So many great, great images entered in this contest!!
A beautiful archway set in a dreamy summer garden from long ago beckons the visitor on to a place of magic and romance.
Another image from my September, 2014 trip to Winterthur, the former estate of the DuPont Family located near Wilmington, Delaware. The gardens there presented so many lovely photographic opportunities. This particular spot seemed to invite me to a quiet secret garden as in the much-loved book by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
Original photographic image taken with the Nikon D7000 and the 18-200mm vr Nikkor lens. After the regular tweaks in Photoshop, the image was completely digitally hand painted via Wacom tablet and stylus in Corel Painter 2015 for a fun and free-wheeling painterly look. Texture from Jerry Jones added in Photoshop.
