Description
A mass of sunny black-eyed Susan flowers bob and weave in the breezes of a perfect summer day. To me, they look like a gathering of glowing pinwheels and I have the feeling that when I turn my back, they whisper and giggle together and quickly spin and whirl just like the children's toys we all remember and love.
Having grown up in Maryland, the black-eyed Susans (Maryland's State Flower) have always been a part of my life. From the brilliant clumps grown on my grandmother's farm to the ones who took over the perennial garden of our own home, their sunny glow always brings a smile.
Loosely based on and hand-painted digitally from one of my own photos.

How beautiful, Lois. My grandmother also had black-eyed Susans and they returned every year to brighten her front yard. As you noted, these flowers can become a part of your life! F/L+++
Lois Bryan replied:
Thank you, Nancy!!! They grow like crazy and after a few years started to "eat" our coneflowers!! But I still love them!!
