Digital Art - Digital Art / Photography Based Digital Hand-painting
A sweet Eastern Blue Bird female and mom takes a well-deserved moment of rest atop a weeping willow tree on a hot July twilight eve.
Whoever coined the phrase "free as a bird" didn't have a clue what they were talking about. This darling lady has worked hard for weeks. If she doesn't look thin as a rail, you can thank my artistic digital brush strokes for fluffing out her chest and tummy a little bit. Nearly every bug she caught, every seed she found went into the hungry mouths of her little brood. In and out, in and out of that box, from sunrise to sunset ... she cared for her babies. Not to mention the death defying pecks and swoops against the predators that were a daily occurrence. Definitely 4, probably 5 little ones ... all safely fledged and out of the box a day or two after the photo on which this image is based was taken. And there's every likelihood she'll be at it once ... maybe twice ... more this summer!!!
So ... thanks Mom!!!!
And to all moms ... feathered, furred or human ... earthly or heavenly ... thanks!! You are appreciated!!!
Image hand-painted, digitally, and very loosely inspired by one of my own photos. Painted in Corel Painter with a Wacom tablet, the art pen, and lots of beautiful brushes.
Fine art purchases of this image will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation ... this image will look its very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."
