Honored to announce that "The Bear Went Over The Mountain" won 3rd place in the Fine Art America contest "It's All about The Bears" hosted by the Art Forever With You Group, 9/29/18. My sincere thanks to the group administrator, Jan Mulherin, and to everyone who voted for my image ... and congratulations to the other winners!!
This is a compilation / composite of several of my own shots plus a few textures. The bear was originally snapped at Blue Knob Mountain in Claysburg, Pennsylvania, lounging on top of and raiding a dumpster. His paw is actually on a liter-size plastic coke bottle. He / she is a wild creature, and was snapped from inside my car, motor running (heart racing!!!), I thank my Dear Hubby, Richard, for the idea of using the rocks. Behind the bear is actually a lush green forest. The rocks are from my own garden in Maryland. The sky was shot from my back deck in Maryland. Neither the rocks nor the sky images caused the photographer any alarm.
Details:
The bear was taken at dusk, June of 2009, with the Nikon D40x and the 18-200mm VR Nikon lens at 1/40 shutter speed and f/5.6 aperture. Exposure 0.00, iso 800.
The sky was shot in the early evening, in March of 2009 with the Nikon D40x and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens at 1/320 shutter and f/5.0 aperture. Exposure -0.33, iso 200.
The rocks were in bright sunlight in May of /09 with the Nikon D40x and the 60mm Nikon lens (I think??). Shutter speed was 1/500, aperture f/4.5, exp -0.33, iso 400.
Fine art purchases of this image will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation ... this image will look its very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."
