Description
Honored to announce that "The Locked Door" tied for first place in the 11/7/2020 Fine Art America contest "Built With Stone" Hosted by the Black and White Analog Images. My thanks to the contest administrator, S Katz, and to everyone who voted for my image. Congratulations to the other winners!
Second place winner in the Fine Art America "Anything Rusty and Old" contest September 13, 2013.
First Place in the "Interesting Doors" contest on Fine Art America May 24, 2012.
One of the locked doors to the open exercise area at the Pennsylvania Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I was fascinated with the textures of the stone and the rust and the harsh shadows created by the un filtered sunlight.
Image taken with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens April 12, 2011.
Fine art purchases of this image will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation ... this image will look its very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."

Nice how the focus of your eyes follows that railing shadow up the stairs and to the doorway.

Awesome!!! The power that this rusted door reveals is quite stunning, especially given the texture of the blocks and lighting which pull you in!!! V/F
