Description
Autumn's golds and scarlets shimmer in the crisp fall air at Burnside Bridge in the Antietam National Battlefield, Sharpsburg, Maryland.
The beauty of the scene, at all times of the year, belies the reality of the battle that took place here, September 16, 1862. It was the bloodiest single day not only of our Civil War, but of all time, with 23,000 men killed or wounded in the fields, woods and dirt roads.
I used one of my own original photos to loosely sketch the image, then digitally painted it, freehand, in Corel Painter.
Not created using Artificial Intelligence / AI.
Fine art purchases of this image as well as products will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation ... this image will look its very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."
