Description
The beautiful Wetherburn Tavern is located on the main thoroughfare of Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia, Duke of Gloucester Street. Captured on a cool April morning, we enjoy a quiet and peaceful vision and can imagine going back in time ourselves.
The Wetherburn Tavern that we see today, unlike many of the structures in Williamsburg, is the original structure. It underwent renovations in the 1960s to bring it into conformance with its early appearance. At the time of the original owner, Henry Wetherburn's, death in 1760, an extensive and detailed inventory of the tavern and its contents was taken. This gave the restorers significant insight into tavern life in the mid 1700's and gave valuable information about the quality of service Wetherburn offered his customers and how the various rooms in the tavern were used.
Fine art purchases of this image will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation ... this image will look its very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."
