Description
A pair of well-used and a bit battered pink satin ballet slippers enjoy a few minutes of well-earned quiet time among a handful of soft and fragrant rose petals. These well-loved pointe shoes, which I always called toe shoes, have just pirouette'd and arabesque'd and plie'd their way through a fabulous performance. It was glorious!
When I was a very, very little girl my mom put me in ballet classes. I was promised a pink tutu with sparkly rhinestones and sequins and real toe-shoes. The kind pictured here with the old-fashioned wooden blocks (boxes) in the toes. Maybe a tiara, too. What I got instead was black tights and a black leotard. Which itched. Really badly. And my toe shoes? Little black nothing slippers with too-tight elastic around the top edges. Not pink. Needless to say the experiences of the young lady described in the first paragraph were not ... mine.
Image created entirely from my imagination, not photo based or even referenced, and digitally hand-painted in Corel Painter with a tablet and stylus, utilizing a variety of beautiful digital brushes.

Fine art purchases of this image will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation ... this image will look its very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."

How sweet this is! Especially for a young dancer's bedroom maybe. Or for greeting cards or invitations to a performance. I love this!

What girl doesn’t want to be a ballerina?...even if for one performance? This is MAGIC revisited! Wonderful, Lois!
