A pair of well-used and a bit battered pink satin ballet slippers enjoy a few minutes of well-earned quiet time among a handful of soft and fragrant rose petals. These well-loved pointe shoes, which I always called toe shoes, have just pirouette'd and arabesque'd and plie'd their way through a fabulous performance. It was glorious!
When I was a very, very little girl my mom put me in ballet classes. I was promised a pink tutu with sparkly rhinestones and sequins and real toe-shoes. The kind pictured here with the old-fashioned wooden blocks (boxes) in the toes. Maybe a tiara, too. What I got instead was black tights and a black leotard. Which itched. Really badly. And my toe shoes? Little black nothing slippers with too-tight elastic around the top edges. Not pink. Needless to say the experiences of the young lady described in the first paragraph were not ... mine.

Welcome! I"m a photographer and digital artist living in the Mid-Atlantic area of the US. Drawing and creating my own little sketchy worlds are some of my earliest memories. Life did what it does and the art fell away, but I reconnected when digital photography was introduced. I enjoy adding to my love of photography by tinkering with computer art programs including Photoshop, Corel Painter, Rebelle and others , though I do not use Ai / Artificial Intelligence. I also love working completely freehand with no photo reference involved. All of which is allowing me to circle back to a semblance of my days of sketching and painting traditionally.
