Description
A peaceful country lane, bordered by hand-constructed snake rail or split-rail fences, brings us up a gentle incline and into the light of a sunny autumn afternoon.
We're standing with our backs to "Bloody Lane" ... one of the main areas of Antietam National Battlefield, and the scene of the bloodiest single-day battle in American history. Fought on September 17, 1862, there was a combined tally of 22,717 dead, wounded, or missing.
"Under Autumn Skies" is another version of one of my favorites, "Snake Rail Fences At Antietam" which is an image of this scene in spring green colors. Since the battle itself took place in fall, I wanted to try a version in the golds and oranges and warm browns that we associate with that time of year.
Image painted by hand, digitally, and very loosely based on one of my own photos using Corel Painter 2019, a Wacom tablet and stylus and many beautiful digital brushes, including some of the popular Bob Ross brushes.
This image was NOT created using AI - Artificial Intelligence programs.
Fine art purchases of this image will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation ... it will look its very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."
