Description
It's a brilliantly sunny April morning and we find ourselves standing on the bank of a serene blue-sky lake in Canada.
Suddenly the quiet is broken by a soft rippling sound. We look to our left and see a glorious mute swan gliding into view.
Wings arched and long neck curved in the familiar S-shape, it's the elegant and legendary swan pose. To our eyes, he appears majestic and delicate. But his posture is actually a show of strength and is considered, swan to swan, aggressive. Called busking, he's ready to defend his territory ... against other swans, or even against us.
Careful, they may be beautiful, but it's said they can break a man's arm with their wings.
Image captured not far from Presqui'le Nature Center, Ontario Canada.
Fine art purchases of this image will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation ... this image will look its very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."
