Description
Windmills of Mykonos tied for 3rd place in the Fine Art America contest "Windmill Contest" 3/13/18. Congratulations to the other winers ... and many thanks to the contest administrator, Martin Velebil, and to everyone who voted for my image!!
A fun, impressionistic vision of the iconic windmills of the magnificent island of Mykonos, Greece, bathed in sunlight under an amazing blue sky. I love the clumpy thatched roofs and the glorious spindly spokes of the windmills. Not a clue how those sticks move the mills ... or whether or not sails (?) were tied to them in days gone by (these things have been around since the 16th century) but I do remember how windy it was there, so maybe these poles were / are all that were / is needed.
Either way ... I love the geometry of them against the sturdy, stocky little buildings and that amazing sky that seems to go on forever there. What a place.
Based on my own photographic image taken in the summer of 2005. These were among the best days of my life!!!
Fine art purchases of this image will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation ... this image will look its very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."

I love windmills and I love Greek Islands, even if I have chosen to leave my chap in Crete and move back to England! And I love how you've processed your original photo! L/F
