Description
The sun has set on another frigid winter day in the depths of Caledonia State Park near Fayetteville, Pennsylvania. The sky glows with the warm colors of oranges and peaches and golds, fading into the lavenders and purples of coming night. Way into the depths of the park, along a narrow and tricky trail hides the beauty of the falls. On a hot July summer's day there's little more than a trickle of water, but at the end of a snowy winter season the force of the accumulated waters as they careen over the precipice above can be breathtaking. Wrap your scares a little closer and grab your walking stick. It's a long way back.
Some of the lines in this image were very loosely sketched as the base for this image from a photo I took on a blue sky sunny hot day in July of 2009. I then freehand painted, digitally, in Corel Painter 2019. Many artistic liberties were taken … lots of imagination!!
This image was NOT created using AI - Artificial Intelligence.
Fine art purchases of this image will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation ... it will look its very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."

I just read the backstory of this image in THE ARTIST BUZzz discussion thread, Essence. I have seen this light in winter..not often, but when it occurs it is a stunning, stop everything you are doing moment. What a wonderful vision you have had to combine that moment with a summer image. You have created a gorgeous work here Lois- such a talent!! L/F
Lois Bryan replied:
Joy thank you so much. That particular cell phone snap, and the ability to save those colors and create a color palette out of them is just short of a miracle. I loved that brief moment, out my back door ... and I can sort of recreate is again and again!!!! Thanks for reading that bit of history and commenting on it ... so very sweet of you!!!!
