I love taking drives along quiet country roads, and one day near the end of March, 2013, the skies near Blue Knob Mountain, Claysburg, Pennsylvania, called me to grab my camera and come out to play. The weather at the end of winter can be such a tease, and as I drove I wasn't sure if I would be in for more snow, or if the sun would break through the clouds and spring would arrive at last. As I drove down one particular back road, I discovered an amazing pass tucked between the distant mountains that reminded me more of Colorado than the Laurel Highlands. The dormant or dead tree in front of me seemed to be waving goodbye to winter as the dirty patches of tired snow at its feet were the only remains of what had been a long, cold season. The wind waved back.
Spring and rebirth are always welcome, but I think there is beauty in all the seasons. There is also great beauty in their in-between stages, too, as they ebb and flow like an invisible tide upon the land.

Welcome! I"m a photographer and digital artist living in the Mid-Atlantic area of the US. Drawing and creating my own little sketchy worlds are some of my earliest memories. Life did what it does and the art fell away, but I reconnected when digital photography was introduced. I enjoy adding to my love of photography by tinkering with computer art programs including Photoshop, Corel Painter, Rebelle and others , though I do not use Ai / Artificial Intelligence. I also love working completely freehand with no photo reference involved. All of which is allowing me to circle back to a semblance of my days of sketching and painting traditionally. Please be aware that we are currently experiencing a glitch in our system. The images in...

Hi Lois! At first I did think this was Colorado. I need to learn more about HDR because this is amazing. The sky looks like it was created with a 3D program. Fav.
Lois Bryan replied:
Scott, thank you very much ... hdr gets a lot of bad press, but when used as a blending layer in Photoshop ... sometimes only using part of it thru masking ... it can add a lot. Personally, I use it to varying degrees in an awful lot of what I do. Very glad you liked it.
