Only the beginning of a monster snow storm ... this one was captured on top of Blue Knob Mountain in Claysburg, Pa in January of 2009 where the temperatures frequently dip below zero (on the Fahrenheit scale) and the snow is measured in feet, not inches.
Image taken with the Nikon D40x and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens. Shutter speed 1/400, aperture f/10, iso 400, exp. -0.33. Textures and falling snow effect added in Photoshop CS4.

thank you, sweetie!!!! Your comment on the cardinal shot held true here ... this was taken in Jan of '09 ... last winter the snow was so ridiculously deep that I didn't get any decent landscape shots at all!!!! So I guess there really can be too much of a good thing!!!
