Description
Considered to be the most photographed packhorse bridge in the United Kingdom, this is a rather unique look at the lovely Ashness Bridge in the Lakes District.
Though the bridge itself looks out over Derwentwater with spectacular views including Bassenthwaite Lake and the River Derwent, Whinlatter and Skiddaw, a downstream vantage point such as this gives the viewer the chance to enjoy the magnificent stonework of the bridge itself. I love the way the sunlight of this glorious May morning picks out the detail of the stones themselves not only on the bridge but along the path of the stream.
Original photographic image captured by my son, Rich Bryan, in May of 2012 with the Nikon D40x and the 18-135mm Nikkor lens. I had the fun of treating it in Photoshop, then giving it a thorough digital hand-painting with the Wacom tablet and brushes in Corel Painter 2015, then back to Photoshop for some final touches.
